So this year we got to participate in 2 derby races: The Cub scout Pinewood Derby and an Daddy/Daughter Activity Day Girl's Potato Derby.
Pinewood Derby
This year Cooper wanted his car to be a Beach Boys surfboard. (yes, our kids know who the Beach Boys are) :-) There were a few challenges in getting it the exact weight, but Cooper ended up tying for 5th place overall so in the end it was a success.
The cars are ready!

Potato Derby
I am one of the leaders for activity day girls in our ward and I thought it would be neat to let the girls participate in some races like the boys do. But to save money and time we did a potato derby instead of a pinewood derby. Same exact thing except instead of carving your car out of wood it is carved from a potato. :-) It was so fun and the girls and dads loved it! It will definitely be an annual event!
We hosted it in our backyard and hot a potluck dinner followed by the races. I was so excited that we had such a great turnout!
#1 Daddy/Daughter team!
Dads standing by for their races.
Ella getting her car ready to race. As you can see there were sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, all kinds of potatoes!
Ella's is in the far right lane - she won every race!
Ella & Tyler got 1st place!!!
(I love her ear to ear smile! She was so excited!)
