First Day of School 2013

Our kiddos are growing up!!!  I can't believe summer is already over and another school year is about to start!  And one of my babies is starting kindergarten. :-(  She was definitely more excited than me.  So with their new clothes and shoes on, backpacks in tow, they head out the door every morning ready to learn and grow!

Kindergarten

2nd Grade

The big 4th grade!

Nothing yet.  But she wanted her pictures taken like the others.  Now it's just me and Clara at home.

4th of July in Prescott

It seems like everyone in our ward and neighborhood go away for the 4th.  And since there isn't a lot going on in Phoenix we decided to head out too.  So we packed up the van and drove north to Prescott.  The weather was beautiful (80's) and they had so many fun festivities to enjoy!

On the 4th we went to the Prescott Rodeo

We also went miniature golfing for only $2!

Went and saw Despicable Me 2
It was fabulous!  And we decided that Clara sometimes can turn into a purple minion.

Then we "hiked" (had to walk about 1.5 miles) to a huge park to wait for the fireworks show.  It was well worth the walk.  The fireworks were choreographed to music and lasted about 30 minutes.  It was beautiful.

Live bands were playing

Ella was making the time go by faster by practicing her gymnastics

Clara made it thru most of the show and then couldn't keep her eyes open anymore

On the 5th we went to the Prescott Town parade.  It was about 3 hours long so we didn't stay for the whole thing, but it was really fun too!  Almost every car/float/horse, etc. was honoring the 19 fallen fireman from Prescott that had died the week early trying to help put out the Yarnell Wildfire.  It was a very somber and special atmosphere.

Of course when you stay at a hotel you have to swim in the pool!  We stayed in a small Holiday Inn Express, but it was great!  They served free breakfast and had an indoor pool.  And so we just put sandwich condiments in the mini fridge to make our own lunches and we were set!

*You might have noticed that Cooper was not in any of these pictures?  That is because he was in CA with Grandma and Grandpa and his cousin for that week.  So while we were in Prescott he was in Santa Cruz watching fireworks on the beach.  As much as I love the beach it was so wonderful to be in Prescott for the 4th.  I hope we can do it again next year!

Gilbert Temple

It is so exciting to see the progress of the Gilbert Temple.  I drive by it a couple of times a week running errands, etc.  Clara is usually the first one to spot it out her window in the car.  It is so exciting that we will have another temple nearby.  And it's neat to hear our neighbors talk about it and ask questions.

AZ Science Center

We got a summer pass to the Arizona Science Center and the kids loved it!  We would meet up with friends, pack a lunch, and stay until Clara couldn't take it anymore. :-)  It's the best place to take your kids and get out of the heat and they are allowed to touch EVERYTHING in the building!
The kids thought this billboard was hilarious.

Clara loved the stomach slide.

She also found her twin. (check out the hair)
